Happy Birthday!

Dear Son #1,

Today is your birthday and you know what this means? It means I have kept you alive for a whole two years! Yay! Hold on I’m just going to give myself a pat on the back …

You’ve changed so much in the last two years and grown up into such a smart, handsome and very vocal little man. But you’re not the only one who’s experienced change. There are a few things that have changed for me over the last two years, in fact I remember when…

I could sleep for 12 straight hours if I wanted to without any midnight, 3 am, or 6 am “Mom? Mom? Mom? Mom?” Wake-up calls.

I could slowly eat my food that was still hot without playing food ping pong or the game I like to call: “just one more bite and then you can…[insert bribe here]”.

I could spend a day cleaning the house top to bottom without interruption and it would stay clean for longer than five minutes. Specifically, the closet door mirrors.

I could wear the same outfit for two days without it being covered in drool, snot, peanut butter, or some mysterious substance that I don’t even want to look into.

I could leave the room for longer than three seconds without hearing the dreaded “bang” followed by the discouraging “uh oh” followed by me having to clean up something that is most likely in pieces.

I could walk down the hallway in the dark with bare feet without the constant fear of stepping on a Hot Wheels car.

Basically what I’m trying to say is that my life was pretty darn boring before you came along so thank you for keeping me on my toes and out of trouble.

Happy 2nd birthday my little boy, here’s to many many more years of keeping life interesting!

Love Mommy,
