Dear Son #1, #2, & #3,
“Ewwwww they’re kissing!!”
Something we hear frequently around our house because, well, what can I say? Daddy and I like to kiss. Plus, we do it to gross you out a lot too. That’s always fun.
Today marks Mommy and Daddy’s 15th wedding anniversary. Which means we’ve been married 15 years but actually kissing for 19. So, we have that down to a science now you’ll be happy to hear.
This topic is really for when you’re much older but an important one to cover anyway. One day some beautiful girls will take you away from me forever, potentially marry you and, you never know, even give you children. One word of advice I’m going to give you for when/if this happens…
Never stop kissing.
Things won’t always be like the end of a Disney movie as you become partners, roommates, and parents. Difficult decisions need to be agreed upon, chores need to be done, bills need to be paid, jobs need to be worked and children need to be cared for.
But never stop kissing.
Things won’t always be romantic as people get sick, have bad days, experience body changes and suffer from lack of sleep. Priorities can temporarily shift, irritating habits have to be tolerated, and sometimes space just needs to be given.
But never stop kissing.
Things won’t always be amicable as sometimes disagreements happen, other people try to get in your way, mistakes are made, and no doubt you, my sons, will say the wrong thing at the wrong time. (I will do my best to train you on this last one but I’m actually still working on Daddy).
But never stop kissing.
So, suck it up buttercups and be glad that we’re still kissing. Or just avert your eyes and continue gagging dramatically because the kissing train isn’t going to stop for a loooong time.
Love Mommy
Xox
P.S. Happy Anniversary Daddy 😉
